Arabica Coffee of North Sumatra

          The famous North Sumatra coffee is Lintong, Mandheling, Siborong Borong, and Sidikalang. However, if not properly sorted, will have a taste score in the commercial coffee category. If the sorting is done well, it will produce specialty coffee, such as peaberry, jumbo bean (large coffee), even the taste is far above the minimum taste, even the taste is above of the minimum taste specialty coffee. The special character of North Sumatra coffee is complex flavour, floral, rich, nice acidity, high acidity, good balance, clean, and fresh. The additional character is the aroma of potatoes, sour, grassy, and earthy. The growing North Sumatra coffee is the S795 variety and Catimor descendants, such as Sigararutang. 

          Lintong coffee is produced on the slopes between the Pinapah and Sihab Mountains, South of Lake Toba, North Sumatra, with high rainfall. Mandheling coffee is produced in the highlands of Northern Sumatra with moderate to high rainfall. Together with Gayo coffee, coffee from North Sumatra is known as Sumatran coffee. The coffees are exported through Medan port. Some names indicate the origin of the coffee, such as Lintong, Sidikalang, and Mandheling. Sumatran coffee, in the world has a unique taste character, which is very difficult to find in other places or countries.
